Playoffs on the Line in Professional Women’s Hockey

The Furies play host with a 4th and final playoff spot on the line. The Furies must win in regulation in order to advance. Markham secured a playoff spot this past weekend with a big win over Team Canada captain Marie-Philip Poulin’s Les Canadiennes de Montreal. The Thunder now guarantee themselves a third-place finish in the league and will play Montreal in the first round.

The Furies hold a 3-1 advantage in the season series, however, two of those games, which the Furies won to stay alive, were recently played without each team’s respective National Team members who were all away at the Canada-USA Rivalry Series.

Back for the Toronto Furies are their Olympians–captain Natalie Spooner, rookie sensation Sarah Nurse, and Renata Fast who recently completed at the NHL skills competition–as well as National Team member Brittany Howard. Back in the Thunder lineup for the big game are USA Olympian Megan Bozek, Canadian Olympians Laura Stacey, Laura Fortino and Jocelyne Larocque, as well as National Team members Jamie-Lee Rattray and Victoria Bach.

The match-up promises to be an exciting game as it pits the GTA’s two teams against each other for the final regular season game in the CWHL.

Additionally, to start the festivities, Juno Award winner Jim Cuddy, from Blue Rodeo will be on hand to drop the ceremonial puck and sing the National Anthem.

Be sure to purchase your tickets online to guarantee a seat.
